Planting trees in Ireland

Planting One Million Trees in Ireland

Zip is pleased to present the "Planting Trees in Ireland" initiative.  For this exciting project we have teamed up with Rural Generation, the world leader in planting and processing short rotation coppice (SRC).

One million willow trees would cover approximately 66 hectares, about 160 acres, and will displace 36,000 tonnes of carbon every year. This carbon is equivalent to that produced by;

Rural Generation provide biomass renewable energy and environmental solutions to partners throughout Europe, Canada and the US.  Since 1992 Rural Generation have planted more than 2000 hectares of willow - which is more than 30 million willow trees.  Annually they produce more than 5,000 tonnes of willow chip. This amount would displace 4,300 tonnes of carbon, which is the equivalent of that produced by over 1,100 trips from the UK to Australia

Due to the renewable nature of SRC willow, no trees are felled in the creation of Croi na Tine firelog.
